Cancellation by you — day and sunset charters
For our sunset cruises and comparable short charters, cancellations made more than 30 days prior to the scheduled departure receive a 90% refund of the deposit. Cancellations made between 14 and 30 days receive a 50% refund. Cancellations within 14 days of the charter are non-refundable. We recommend appropriate travel insurance.
Cancellation by you — multi-day charters
Multi-day and extended charters are governed by the cancellation schedule in your signed MYBA Charter Agreement, which is set by the yacht owner and stated in your proposal before you sign. Because a confirmed multi-day charter takes a vessel and its crew out of the market for that period, these schedules are materially stricter than for day charters. Ask us for the exact terms for your chosen vessel before committing.
Cancellation for weather or safety
In the rare event of cancellation due to severe weather, as determined by the captain for safety reasons, a full refund or rescheduling will be offered. Where a charter is curtailed after departure for safety reasons, we will work with the owner on a fair pro-rata outcome. The captain’s judgement on whether conditions are safe is final and is never influenced by the commercial consequence.
Itinerary changes that are not cancellations
Your itinerary is a living document. Reordering stops, substituting an anchorage, or adjusting timings in consultation with the captain is a normal part of a private charter and carries no fee. Where a change materially alters the cruising distance, the fuel difference is reflected in the APA reconciliation rather than charged as a penalty.
How the APA is reconciled
The APA is not a fee and is not retained by us. The captain maintains a running tally of all expenditures, available for your review at any time, and a full account is presented at the end of the charter. Any unspent funds are returned to you directly. If expenses exceed the APA, the difference is settled prior to disembarkation. This reconciliation happens whether or not the charter ran exactly as planned.
What is not refundable
Government taxes and third-party fees already paid on your behalf — port clearance, marine park entrance and conservation fees, and any non-refundable permits — are passed through at cost and cannot be returned once lodged. Crew gratuity is discretionary and paid at your conclusion of the charter, so the question does not arise. Credit-card processing fees are not refundable.
How to cancel or change a booking
Message the charter desk on WhatsApp or email as early as you can, quoting your charter dates and vessel. Timing is what determines the outcome, so tell us the moment you think a date may move — in many cases we can reschedule rather than cancel, which preserves your deposit in full.
How refunds are paid
Refunds are returned by the same route the payment arrived, to the originating account, normally within 14 business days of agreement. We will confirm the amount and the basis for it in writing before processing.
